Job Description
Protecting people and property
- Patrolling: Security officers patrol the premises to ensure safety and security
- Checking for unauthorized activity: Security officers look for signs of unauthorized entry or activity
- Responding to emergencies: Security officers are often the first responders to fires, medical emergencies, or criminal activity
Preventing crime
- Identifying suspicious behavior: Security officers watch for irregular or suspicious behavior
- Reporting incidents: Security officers report incidents to the authorities
Responding to emergencies
- Investigating alarms: Security officers investigate alarms and emergencies
- De-escalating crises: Security officers help de-escalate crisis situations
- Providing support to emergency personnel: Security officers provide support to emergency personnel, including police and fire
Other responsibilities
- Greeting employees or customers
- Checking visitors in and out
- Answering and making phone calls
- Maintaining accurate records
- Helping individuals on the premises with directions or information
- Providing first aid when needed
